Community Programs

EKARI Foundation’s impact does not stop with youth, but rather extends into the communities where the youth we support live. EKARI provides community members with access to adult literacy, financial, business management, agricultural, and vocational training as well as infrastructure improvements. The most valuable aspect underlying our community programs is EKARI’s Worldview Training. Many NGOs operating in Malawi provided resources for free, which created the ‘dependency syndrome’; beneficiaries became dependent on the NGOs’ support rather than empowered by it. EKARI believes in empowerment and self reliance. We conduct dependency versus empowerment training within the communities where we operate our community programs.
