EKARI’s Community Programs are designed to further support EKARI students by elevating the community around them. We work to jumpstart economic community development and build role models through adult literacy, agriculture, and entrepreneurship training. This includes establishing Village Savings and Loan Associations.
Many NGOs operating in Malawi provide resources for free, which creates the ‘dependency syndrome’; communities become dependent on the NGOs’ support rather than empowered by it. EKARI believes in empowerment and self reliance. EKARI conducts training and implements programs to build self reliance within the communities where we work.
