Effectiveness Rate

EKARI is an effective nonprofit in Malawi, Africa.
Our Effectiveness Rate for the 2016-17 school year held steady at 94%!

Students pass senior-year exam upon first try.

High school graduates gain acceptance to higher education institution within 1 year after receipt of exam results (6 month grace period).

Higher education graduates find internship within 6 months after graduation (6 month grace period).

Graduates gain employment or become entrepreneur within 3 years after completing internship.

Why do we track our effectiveness rate?

Why is it important to understand how efficient AND effective a nonprofit organization is? Because if a nonprofit organization is efficient by having a low overhead rate, but is not effective in reaching its goals, your contribution is NOT generating its greatest possible impact!

Check out this article that states, “… researchers at GiveWell have determined that the most effective charities in the world have as much as 1,000 times the impact per dollar of the least effective charities.”

EKARI Foundation’s effectiveness rate can be negatively impacted by the fact that we work in one of the poorest countries in the world where poverty is complex. To continue to be an effective nonprofit in Malawi, Africa, we continually strive to increase our effectiveness rate to 100%. One way we do this is through the implementation of our Complementary Student Programs.
